What is Acode LTLI?
The Learning Technologies Leadership Institute is a highly engaging and practical professional development program designed for participants to develop a deep understanding of effective leadership in relation to technology enhanced learning in the tertiary education context. The Institute runs every two years.
Participants work together to gain an understanding of leadership skills and strategies and to develop their own leadership potential in a collaborative and supportive environment. Participants also apply their knowledge and learning to case studies focused on approaches to leading the introduction and use of learning technologies considering both New Zealand and Australian tertiary educational settings.
What can you expect?
The program is designed to broaden your perspectives and develop leadership skills and abilities enabling you to assume effective leadership roles in relation to teaching and learning with an emphasis on the use of learning technologies in universities and other institutes of higher education. It is also designed to encourage you to establish supportive networks that will continue beyond the Institute itself.
These objectives will be achieved by an intensive combination of expert presentations, robust debate, interactive group work, hands-on use of the technologies themselves and ongoing networking:
There will be presentations on leadership and management, developing a quality environment, developing workforce capacity, managing information, priorities for institutional leaders and future directions – all with reference to learning technologies.
You will be encouraged and expected to test what you hear against your own and the other participants’ experience.
You will get the opportunity to apply these concepts through the ‘Making the Case’ exercise where groups of participants develop and present a case for a more strategic approach to the use of learning technologies under a selected institutional scenario.
The Institute will ‘practice what it preaches’ and make intensive use of several learning and communications technologies.
You will be encouraged and supported to develop ongoing networking relationships across the group.
Is it for you?
The Institute is intended for individuals whose work currently involves the provision of leadership or support for staff in the application of learning technologies to improve university learning and teaching. It is expected that you will have significant experience in educational design, academic development, e-learning support or related fields. The Institute is not designed for entry level participants.
Attendance at the ACODE Institute is open to all staff of ACODE Institutional and Affiliate Member institutions as well as staff of other education providers. The number of places at the Institute will not exceed 40 and early notice will be given to ACODE Institutional Member representatives.
You should expect to work hard during the Institute. You will need to attend all scheduled sessions and be ready to work beyond these hours to complete work for the following day. You can also expect to make intensive use of various learning and communications technologies and should bring your own laptop ready to network with others.
